DA: Run by 12 year olds

So, I feel that before I leave, it is important that you realise the sort of people who are running DA.

Following the inclusion of a photo showcasing animal abuse as a Daily Deviation, I contacted the person who selected the photo to voice my concerns and disgust at it.

I expected impartial, professional, well worded responses. After all, DA is a large website, surely it is run by people who conduct themselves professionally?
Sadly, this was proven to not be the case.

Below is the exact response, copied and pasted from the note, that I recieved when I voiced my concerns about the promotion of animal abuse:

"lol whatever. Good luck with that Cheers. Now please take the dArama somewhere else. Thanks!"

Undeniably the response of a mature, professional moderator, yes?
It gets worse.

When I asked whether the picture would be allowed on the site had it been a puppy or a kitten in place of the rat, the question was never answered.
The issue was avoided by the mod claiming:

"I have DD'd Wolves killing Elk, a cat bring back a dead Rat to it's litter, and so forth. It is N A T U R E."

Clearly, she is unable to tell the difference between a scene that occurs in a natural setting without any interference from man, as in all the above examples, and a scene that occurs in someone's living room involving a domestic animal he has just purchased to take photos of while it dies.

I once again asked whether the image would be allowed had it been a puppy or kitten involved.

I recieved this:

"Blah blah blah I am not even gonna read this, hi and welcome to my block list. Any farther attempt at contacting me will be referred to CEA. Later"

This last response brings up a number of things.
Firstly, the answer to my question regarding puppies and kittens is clearly that no, the photo would not have been featured. I asked the question no less than 3 times, and each time I was not given an answer. How hard was it to say yes or no? Its pretty obvious that the mod was made aware of her own hypocrisy, but just didn't want to admit it.

Secondly, how professional, eh? A customer complains, they are called a dramawhore, blocked, and threatened to be reported to a higher power.
All for complaining about animal abuse.

Its worth bearing in mind that I pay for my account, and have done for a long time. I am giving them money for a service; I am a customer.
They take my money to support themselves; they are a business.
And the above is how they treat their customers.

Really, I don't need to say any more at all on this, the above speaks volumes without me needing to elaborate.

But I will leave you with this piece of information.
DA's rules clearly state that pictures of animal abuse and cruelty will not be tolerated, and will be removed as soon as staff are made aware.
Previous deviants have had art featuring taxidermy, road kill, or naturally deceased animals removed under the above rule.

But a domestic animal being suffocated to death at the whims of a human, and photographed for all to see, is apparently acceptable.

I can't tell anyone what to do, and am not judging anyone here for a decision to remain on DA, but jesus christ.....think on the above a little.

Thanks.

May leave

May leave

Its sad when photos of animal abuse are given DDs on this site.
Im considering leaving, and just keeping my art to my website. Its a shame, since I know so many nice people here. But yeah.....I can't support a site that thinks that is an acceptable thing to showcase. I wonder if it would be so praised if it were a puppy being killed?
Don't answer that, we all know the answer.

No drama. Just a head's up.
When my subscription expires, I likely won't be renewing it.
Any my art will probably now be kept to my website, or my FA account.
FA has problems and a whole set of issues itself, but it isn't praising animal abuse so openly, at least.

My haters were wondering why I hadn't commented on this, bless them.
GEE, I WONDER WHY? Could it be that last time I dared offer an opinion on the subject, people wet themselves?

So, this is just a head's up for my friends, because I feel they deserve to know if I disappear. If you want to continue watching me, best to either bookmark my site (down at the moment, but not for long) or watch me on FA.
Also, if anyone knows any other art upload sites with a similar format to DA, let me know.

Gather round, children

Gather round, children

So I was in surgery today at work, helping repair a hernia on the arse of a dog, and blacked out and hit my head so hard on the ops room floor that people thought we'd dropped something metal.
I've never blacked out in my entire life, for something that wasn't alcohol related. Im not a fainty person, at all. Apparently, with how hard I hit my head, I should be pretty fucked up and ill today but......I feel fine. Got a hell of a lump on my head and my pride needs mouth to mouth but other than that.....its ok. Can't remember a thing about it other than saying I felt a bit sick, then waking up with people crowding me and my head feeling like shit.

This sort of thing happens a lot in medicine, most people I work with have done it, but I never thought it'd happen to me. I wonder if this'll leave any lasting damage..........
